“I admire and am inspired by patients who make their health and wellness a priority and are invested and engaged in their recovery.”

Melissa Baudo, Atlanta’s premier Sports Physiotherapist

Melissa Baudo joined One on One Physical Therapy after a global journey as a full-time Sports Physiotherapist for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), working with some of the most elite women athletes in the world. Melissa’s four year odyssey on tour spanned 4 continents, 30 countries, and over 17 tournaments annually–including the Australian Open, the French Open, the US Open and the season-ending WTA Championship in Doha, Qatar. On tour, she worked alongside some of the most sought after physiotherapists and osteopaths in her field.

Melissa earned both a Master of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from The Ohio State University, where she was a member of the Women’s Club Soccer team.

Melissa is certified in Manual Therapy through the University of St. Augustine and is board certified in Sports Physical Therapy. Her area of specialty practice includes Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics. She is also a Polestar trained Pilates Instructor. Melissa is trained in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Analysis (SFMA). She has also received training in Functional Dry Needling through Kinetacore. Melissa utilizes Redcord Suspension Exercise and The Neurac Method. In addition, she is the only Certified Neurac Instructor in the southeast.

All patients young and old can benefit from Melissa’s treatment approach. It is comprehensive, combining advanced manual therapy skills, exercise, and athletic taping techniques. Her experience and knowledge in sport biomechanics gives her a greater understanding of the demands placed upon the athlete’s body and the functional movements required for each athlete to return safely to his or her sport.

Melissa is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Orthopedic and Sports Sections and the Society for Tennis Medicine and Science. Melissa is a published author and has made various contributions to professional tennis publications. She remains involved in the Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University, teaching in the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.

Prior to joining the WTA as a lead Physical Therapist, Melissa covered other professional and amateur sporting events, including the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Beach Volleyball tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

At the last major tournament of the 2010 professional tennis season, Melissa’s fiancé, Brian, surprised her at the US Open by proposing on center court in Arthur Ashe Stadium. They were wed in June 2011 at The Ritz Carlton Reynold’s Plantation on Lake Oconee. Outside the clinic and classroom, Melissa enjoys traveling, exercising, reading. She most revels in spending meaningful time with her family, friends, and husband.
